Salvage Works (the pub with no beer)
April 17 2015
April sees the opening of Salvage Works (the pub with no beer), a solo exhibition by Shayne O'Donnell.
The artworks in this exhibition are the result of time spent on the site of the historic Guildford Hotel, which was gutted by fire in 2008.
Salvaging material found in the ruins Shayne has constructed images from the substance of the subject itself. Using powdered brick, charcoal and pressed tin she documents the saga of the Guildford Hotel and its impact on her community.

Jean-Louis Diaz – The URBAN SANCTUM opens 5 May 2014
April 16 2014
Urban sanctum, on first impression, depicts sanctuaries set amongst busy, sometimes intense, urban landscapes.
Travel to some of the great and smaller cities of the world has allowed me the opportunity to explore and document them. It is always enjoyable to walk and discover peaceful promenades, enclaves and niches set amongst some of the busiest urban environments. These are places to rest and reminisce.
My paintings for Urban Sanctum can also be interpreted as metaphor to our busy lives, when we rediscover a state of mind that comforts and feeds the soul. It is about enjoying the moment to contemplate, daydream….. and imagine.

Jean – Louis Diaz Exhibition August 18 @ 2pm
July 11 2013
In August Harvison Gallery will be exhibiting works by Perth artist Jean - Louis Diaz. This highly anticipated show opens on Sunday, August 18 @ 2pm.
I look forward to seeing you at this beautiful exhibition.
This collection, ‘Light of India’ is based on my recent travels to southern India and Rajasthan.
It is a pictorial essay of locations and experiences that have inspired me then and continue to do so.
For me painting is a sensory, physical experience. I attempt to re-connect with the subject matter with each painting and capture it’s essence. My love of colour was rewarded tenfold by my travels to India.
Drawing is a more direct experience, it is something that I enjoy immensely and it provides the best means of venturing into a new body of work. Naturally they were the earliest pieces completed for this collection.
